Brittney & Sylvan's Wedding

I had the pleasure of shooting Brittney & Sylvan's wedding May 3rd 2008 with Eunice of FunkyTown Photography. This couple was amazing! They were funny, up for anything and completely in Love. It was a great start to the wedding season.

Tanya & Carl Engagement Session

I photographed Tanya & Carl's engagement session with Eunice Montenegro on February 28th, 2008. We started the session in their home and then continued on to a great little vineyard and then ended with them dancing on the beach. They are such a sweet couple and had no problem pretending we weren't there, which can be pretty hard when you have two photographers with two cameras each photographing you.

Clearly I'm Technically Challenged

Okay so that post was the longest post ever! Not only did it take me forever to type, but clearly I'm a newbie because it took me three times of typing it, to get it to post. There were various reasons for this. But needless to say if it hadn't worked that time I would have scrapped the idea of blogging all together!

And so the blogging begins.....

Welcome to the Blog of Taylored Photography and thanks for stopping by!

As you can tell, this is my very first entry and I hope to keep it as up to date as possible. I never thought I would get into blogging, because well, quite frankly, I'm not much of a writer but I figured I would give it a try. Not all my posts will be photography related, some may just be random thoughts, or what have you.

A little about me:

I graduated from the Western Academy of Photography with a Diploma in Professional Photography. Up until that point, I worked for the government and just kept photography as a hobby and did the occasional side job as time permitted.

I have a beautiful 14-month old daughter named Paige. She was born two months after I graduated. Being pregnant during my school year was a bit of a challenge for me, but in the end it was worth it. I can honestly say Paige is the best thing that ever happened to me and I can't imagine my life without her.

I also have a 6-year old Doberman German Shepard cross, named Jessie who was my first baby and she is the cutest dog ever. I know..... I have a biased opinion but it really is true! And anyone that knows me knows that Jessie is a big spoiled baby of a dog that thinks she is a person. At 70 lbs she is a tad over weight and thinks she is a lap dog! She also insists on sleeping in our bed.....not on top of the covers like a normal dog. No, she isn't happy unless she is under the covers, quite often with her head on one of our pillows! We've tried to break her of this habit so we can actually get a good night sleep without a dog taking up half the bed, but she is the most relentless dog ever. She will literally whine at the end of the bed until you give in. And believe me, I have given it a good go, but after hours of her whining and every time she is quiet and you think FINALLY she is going to give up, she nudges you, huffs and starts whining again! Keep in mind that at other peoples houses she doesn't dare climb on any furniture let alone the bed. I'm convinced she thinks it's her bed and she is allowing US to sleep in it! So in order to get a good night sleep, because I know she isn't going to give up, I usually go to bed before Kevin (my worse half...no I'm kidding he is my better half) and I put her on his side so he can deal with her. Mean ? I know, but he is the one that created the problem in the first place.

Paige and Jessie have an interesting dynamic. Paige loves Jessie and Jessie only loves Paige when she has food or has the possibility of getting food. Jessie is no dumb dog (or at least not when it comes to food) and she figured out real quick that Paige is an easy target. I'm guessing because Paige is small and vulnerable. I will give Jessie credit for what she puts up with from Paige, to get all this food. Paige thinks it's funny to hold food out to Jessie and then when Jessie goes to eat it, Paige yanks it back and eats it herself. Or she holds it out and then runs so Jessie chases her. If Jessie does manage to eat it before Paige can yank it back, she cries and usually points at Jessie and yells a bunch of baby garble at her. I have no idea what she is saying but it sounds like she is giving Jessie a serious talking to. Paige will also bring me her snack cup and point to the cracker cupboard and when I fill it, she just sits there and feeds Jessie one cracker at a time (No wonder my dog has a weight problem!). Sometimes this is too much for Jessie and she rams her face into the cup and of course, Paige gets mad because she only wants to do things on her terms. Did I mention that Paige is a stubborn, independent and full of attitude baby ? I wonder who she got that from ? :) I blame my mom for that actually. As a child she used to curse me and say : "I hope you have a baby as rotten as you are." that may sound a bit harsh to some of you, but I was a slightly difficult child and an even more difficult teenager. So mom, if you are reading this "sorry for being rotten." Do you think you could take your curse back??

Anyone that knows Paige and thinks I'm exaggerating, you haven't seen her in all her stubbornness glory. Don't get me wrong, she is an adorable, sweet, well behaved little girl when she wants to be. But cross the little bugger and look out....her whole body tightens, she goes beat red, screams at the top of her lungs and shakes. And when she is really mad she will throw herself on the floor. She learned real quick, with that one, that it hurts when your head hits the floor, so now she throws herself on the floor and gently puts her head down! My little drama queen! I guess her independence is a good thing but it's challenging when she wants to do things her way or no way. So I guess it is a learning experience for everyone.

So this first entry isn't about photography at all, but I will post entries for the majority of the stuff I shot this summer. Aside from working on my own I also work for a studio as an associate photographer. You can check out their website at www.funkytownphotography.com They are an awesome studio and have given me so much knowledge and opportunities. I can't say enough good things about Eunice and Christina. I also have a gallery on their associate page if you want to check that out. And I already have 5 bookings for weddings in 2009, which is so exciting and I really hope they keep rolling in.

For right now, I'm still working for the government, as photography is slow in the winter, so between that, being a mom, catching up on the back log of editing I have (and believe me there is a lot) and the shooting I'm doing I'm pretty much swamped! I'm also in the process of revamping my website and I'm doing it myself so it's taking me a bit of time.

Well that's an understatement.....it's taking me a very long time, but it will be worth it in the end and I will let everyone know once it's live. So for now you will have to check my stuff out here and on the FunkyTown galleries.
